Access Statement

ACCESS STATEMENT

Olif is a small bed and breakfast and tapas restaurant in Betws Y Coed
Plas Derwen (the name of the building we occupy), was built in Victorian times on a raised level accessed by steps and there are therefore limits on what we can do to comply with Disability Discrimination Act 1995

The position of the building on the highway, the steps and conservation issues mean that it is impossible to make the ground floor fully accessible for people with mobility issues.

THE APPROACH

Olif is accessed by 12 steps directly from the highway. There is no pavement in front of the building.
Hearing and Guide dogs are welcome in the restaurant and rooms.

CAR PARKING
We do not have onsite parking. For those with limited mobility, it is possible to be dropped off at the entrance and then we recommend parking at the Pont Y Pair car park or on the road in between the Royal Oak and St Mary’s church. Blue badge holders are able to park on the double yellow lines to the left of Olif for up to 3 hours.

TOILETS

There are no WC facilities on the ground floor and no accessible toilet.

EVACUATION / EXIT DOORS
In an emergency, customers will evacuate through the entrance door. Staff will undergo basic training in evacuation procedures and will be responsible for getting customers out of the building.
A fire alarm system (with both audible and visual warnings) is installed.

TRAINING
Staff training in disability awareness is undertaken with new starters.
Olif is committed to undertaking a structured programme of regular reviews of new technologies, constructional developments and training to ensure that the on-going and evolving obligations imposed by the DDA are met.
